ANIMAL LOVERS BEWARE

Its in your face.

Don't like bullfighting.

Turn a blind eye in Spain.

But you might like their wine.

Bull.

SAY A LITTLE PRAYER FOR ME

In a small park, dedicated to a pagan god.

Exists a timely reminder to pray.

It may be old-fashioned.

It may be laughable (for those un-believers).

But, it may be worth a try.

If all else has failed.

A TOUCH OF COUNTRY IN THE TOWN

Villages start off as a collection of houses.

And most towns started off as villages.

Open your vision beyond this humble dwelling.

And see what has sprung up around.

ROCKY 4

And finally the rock pool.

Stare and watch the clouds drift by.

But don't let your imagination get carried away.

NAMASTÉ

ROCKY 3

When I was a kid, living in Africa I used to collect rocks.

My bedroom window-ledge was laden with them.

Red, blue, grey, round, smooth and jagged.

Now I seem to collect images of them.

(Well, they are bigger and won't fit on my window-ledge).

ROCKY 2

Same location, different view (as Rocky 1).

Luvverly all the same.

NAMASTÉ

ROCKY 1

Yes, its Portugal again!

Rocks, waterfalls, cascades and limpid pools.

Even in full colour these rocks are all the shades of grey.

(Well - almost).

ROOTS

Just after I'd fallen

in the stream' having slipped

on a wet, mossy rock.

The camera never felt

a drop, in fact revealed

some great sky shots.

This protected little corner

beckoned.

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE

Walk the line.

Drive to the vanishing point.

Watch the white stripes fly by.

See the scenery out of the corner of your eye.

THE SECRET BAY

There are some places in Portugal that should be kept secret.

So that they remain unspoiled and only appreciated by those prepared

to go looking and, similarly keep as near-virginal beauty.

Here's one of them.

TREES 1

One of the things I like about Portugal is that you are never very far from nature.
A mere twenty minutes out of the bustle of Lisbon and there is an abundance of open space and beautiful images, for those prepared to open their eyes and forget about the magnetism of shopping malls.

CATS ALWAYS FIND THE CALM PLACES

Hidden from view, she absorbed the calm.

A neat quadrangle of Japanese cultivation.

Cat Feng Shui no doubt.

MUM'S GARDEN

Low-res, webcam. For some time that's all I could afford to use. It was my intro into the digital world. A webcam for forty euros!

This image, of part of my Mother's garden in England, could never do justice to the amount of time, sweat and creativity my Mum has spent in gardening throughout her life.

But, as she was 83 at the time I took this image of one small patch of her back garden, says a lot about her ability.
