ABOUT MEL
Take a look at my C.V. on the right hand side of this site. It’s very compact, but it will give you a rough idea of what I have been doing.

PHOTOGRAPHICS (Colour and B&W)
Capture a high resolution, digital image and give it more impact by modifying a number of elements to create a strong, contemporary, graphic look to the prints.

PAINTOGRAPHY (Colour)
“Painting is art, photography is a craft” you will often hear folk say. To which photographers would strongly respond by saying that “Photography is art.”
If it isn’t so, what is it called when a painter uses a photograph to create an inspiration, or an image?
Thanks to modern manipulation software the two can now become one.

RETRO FOLIO (B&W)
This was originally created as a 21 print set of limited edition, signed and numbered giclée prints, protected in an archival specification, hardcover box at a price of £4500 + VAT. The images presented here are a selection.
The full set comprises: Wind Break, Votive Offerings, Vanishing Point, Tree Study 2, Ticket Seller, Take a Break, Sun Trap, Splash, Speed, Rocky II, Puento Nuevo, Pig Sty, Nice Bridge, Menhir, I am Dwarfed, Cat Feng Shui, Camouflage, Boca do Inferno, Gnarled, Girl on a Bicycle and Free Energy.

People never fail to fascinate, because no two are the same and they present many and varied opportunities for creative interpretation.

SECRET GARDEN (Tritone)
Tritone images of this hidden location - journey into fantasy.

EDITIONS
Each print is available as one of an edition limited to 50 titled, numbered and signed by Mel Sewell.
Where ‘SIZE’ is stated, this means image size. Paper size will always be A3+ ( 329x483mm). Triptychs will comprise 3 sheets x A3+.
None of the images are to scale relative to the other, except Secret Garden.
Tritone means that the image is comprised of three basic colours. (Rather like duotones are two colours.)
All images are printed on an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 machine, using Epson specified pigment prints which are guaranteed light fast for 150 years. The paper varies: In the case of the Retro Folio Boxed Set it is Hahnemuhle 305 gm Photo Rag, which is acid free.
All of the images shown here have been shot in Portugal, with the exception of: Stourhead (UK), Porker (Spain), Kayaks (UK) and Lips (UK).

FRAMING
I suggest a white passepartout, with an all-round width of 120mm for each limited edition print.
Frames are best kept simple, plain and unobtrusive. Please do not ask your picture framer, or interior designer to match the frames to your sofa, or curtains.

VAT is standard UK rate of 17%.

If you persuade a friend to buy a print I'll send you an A5, signed print of your favourite image.
Prints will be despatched 10 days after clearance of cheque, PayPal, or P.O. (In the instance of payment by credit card this will be as soon as I receive the completed details, although I haven't arranged this facility yet, but will advise as soon as I have.) I will always confirm your order by immediate return e-mail.
All prints will be despatched frameless, flat, in re-inforced packaging, via courier. Please e-mail me with your location and I will send you the additional costs for shipping, before you complete any financial transaction.
