Frome Festival/ Black Swan Arts

Frome Festival, which lasts from 4-13 July and promotes the Arts has been rated as "Among the five best in the UK." Check out their website.

Black Swan Arts promotes art in Frome on a daily basis. There is always something happening. Not only do their premises contain studios, but also a great shop selling arts and crafts. And that is where some of my black and white landscape prints will be on sale from 4th July.

They will be (as above, from top): Temple Entrance, Sun Trap, Pier, I am Dwarfed, Crossing Point, Breakwater and At the Ford.

An exhibition of recent prints by Mel Sewell at Off The Wall Gallery, Alte, Algarve

Official opening (by invitation only) Thursday May 1st, 2008 at 1800 hrs.

Exhibition runs for one month until June 1st after which the gallery will be a permanent exhibition and exclusive stockist of Mel’s work in the Algarve.

Each print will be signed and numbered, but limited to an edition of 12, with the image size no larger than 175x265mm and printed on Hahnemuehle 188gsm, Photo Rag, A3+ paper.

Memories: Collect, or cut and erase?

It would be terrible to have no memories, no recollection of the good and bad that went before, that make you who you are.

No memories, no person.

In today's world clutter and aquisitiveness dominate and rule over minimalism.

No doubt, to give comfort in a today of change and tomorrow of uncertainty.

Where do all the memories go? Stored away in the back of the mind occupying precious thinking space? Objects cluttering up the house on every shelf, or forcing the car out of the garage. Photo albums where once literature reigned? Tetrabytes of space on your hard drive devoted to jpegs of dogs, babies and seaside jaunts?
